EU Referendum 23/06/2016
A referendum on whether the United Kingdom should remain in the European Union is to be held on 23rd June 2016. There is at present a lot of uncertainty as to the implications to the UK if it were to leave the EU. The decision would have an impact on British jobs, the economy, trade, law and legal processes to name a few.
There is also the matter of immigration, for both EEA migrants living in the UK and UK migrants living elsewhere in the EEA. At present it is not known what will happen if the UK votes to leave the EU, however what is known is that if this were to happen then the UK would have to negotiate new trade agreements with the EU, which could possibly include deals that allow free movement of EU migrants as the price of being allowed access to the free market.
In order to clarify this uncertainty, today, the foreign secretary, Philip Hammond, announced that the government is to publish a report on Britain's post-EU options to force Leave campaigners to spell out their vision. The report is said to claim that Britain would be "weaker, less safe and worse off" outside the EU.
The report has yet to be published, however we will update you once it is.
